Case notes

Six recent jobs, explained.

A completed retail parking lot restripe photographed from a slightly elevated angle, crisp white stall lines running in long straight parallel rows across dark asphalt, evenly spaced and all sharing one vanishing point toward a low shopfront with plain awnings

Rockwall · Restripe

Twenty-two stalls that were never there

The centre had been restriped over its own ghost lines for years, and every repaint had drifted a little wider. We measured the whole field, reset the module to what the use actually needs, and got twenty-two more stalls out of the same asphalt. The tenants noticed before the property manager did.

Two finished accessible parking stalls side by side sharing a single hatched access aisle between them, the diagonal hatching evenly spaced and unbroken

Rockwall · ADA layout

An access aisle that went nowhere

Four accessible stalls, all correctly striped, and not one of them connected to a route that reached the door — the aisle ended at a six-inch curb. We moved two stalls to the entrance side, cut in a ramp at the aisle, and reset the signs at sixty inches. The lot had passed a repaint twice. Nobody had walked the route.

A long run of freshly coated bright red kerb curving gently along the front of a commercial building, the white words NO PARKING FIRE LANE stencilled clearly and correctly along it at even intervals

Rockwall · Fire lane

A fire lane the marshal could not read

Red curb had been rolled over failed red curb for years and the lettering had gone with it. The notice gave thirty days. We ground the curb face back to sound concrete, recoated it, and stencilled the lettering at the spacing the local code calls for rather than where the old letters happened to sit.

A large commercial parking lot immediately after sealcoating and restriping — deep even black asphalt with brilliant white stall lines running in straight parallel rows across it, evenly spaced, sharing one vanishing point

Rockwall · Sealcoat and restripe

Sealer over a base that was already gone

The previous vendor had sealed and striped a lot with alligator cracking straight across the drive lane, and it came back through in one wet season. We cut out the failed sections, patched and compacted them, let the patches cure, then sealed and restriped. Same lot, same crew size, different order of operations.

A finished warehouse floor marking scheme viewed down a wide aisle — yellow forklift aisle lines, a green pedestrian walkway running parallel beside them, and white staging outlines on the polished concrete slab

Rockwall · Warehouse floor

Aisles drawn to the racking, not the slab

The floor markings had been laid to the original rack layout, and the racking had moved twice since. Pedestrians were walking a green lane that ran under a live pick face. We shut the area down over a weekend, removed the old lines, and set the aisles to the racking as it stands, with crossings where people actually cross.

A finished thermoplastic crosswalk laid across a commercial drive lane — thick white bands, exactly parallel, evenly spaced, square to the kerbs at both ends, their surfaces catching the light with a faint glassy sparkle from the reflective beads

Rockwall · Thermoplastic

The crosswalk that lasted one winter

A painted crosswalk on a hospital drive lane was gone by spring — the traffic count was simply too high for paint, and no amount of recoating was going to change that. We laid it back in preformed thermoplastic with reflective beads at the same geometry. Four years on it is still legible at night, which is the part that mattered to them.
