From a 40-space lot in Rockwall to the tarmac at DFW.

Back in the early days, I struck out on my own with a used compressor, a truck I financed on my personal card, and a single line-striping wand a friend loaned me until I could afford my own. My first paying job was a 40-space lot behind a strip mall in Rockwall — one afternoon of work, cash on the tailgate, and a handshake from an owner who told me if it looked good, he'd send me down the street to the next one.

He did.

That was the whole business plan for a while. Show up on time. Cut clean lines. Leave the site cleaner than we found it. When the property manager down the road called, we came. When the general contractor said they needed a lot re-striped before a Monday morning inspection, we worked through the weekend. Referrals turned into route contracts. Route contracts turned into national accounts. Years later, I still get a little emotional when I remember pulling out of that first Rockwall lot with $650 in my pocket.

Today the crew rolls in eight trucks. We stripe warehouses for Cintas, distribution centers for Amazon, retail centers for Walmart and Target, campuses for universities, medical complexes and municipal fleets — and the one every striper dreams about: the passenger lots at DFW International Airport.

That first Rockwall job was 40 spaces. A single quadrant of the DFW project is over 4,000. That's a hundred times the paint, ten times the crew, and every single one of those spaces gets the same treatment as the very first — clean lines, clean site, clean handshake at the end.

People ask me all the time how a family shop out of Rockwall ended up handling projects four times larger than what we built the company on. The honest answer is boring: we never dropped the standard. Every ADA stall we lay today is measured to the same tolerance we used on that strip mall lot on day one. Every crew that leaves our yard knows the phone number for the owner — mine — is on the side of the truck.

The photo up top is what the world sees: the lot at DFW, striped by us, waiting for the next flight. What the photo doesn't show is the years of small jobs, late nights, and hand-shakes that got us there.

We're still that same Rockwall crew. We just haul more paint.
